Control system of completely automated ore railroad in Labrador is described; single track railway is capable of transporting 55,000 long tons of iron ore every day from loaders at mine to dumper at ore concentrator, about 6 mi away; 18-car trains powered by 1750-hp diesel electric locomotives are controlled by supplying coded 60-cycle signals to rails; signals are picked up, decoded and used to vary speed, direction, and other normal power operating devices in 4 locomotives.
