New means of propulsion for both aerial and marine craft, differing completely from conventional screw propeller, invented by F. K. Kirsten, German-American professor at Univ. of Wash., with aid of American airplane manufacturer, W. E. Boeing; advantages consist essentially in adjustability of thrust in any desired direction, in plane perpendicular to axis of rotation of system, and in its high efficiency; it resembles paddle wheels used on river steamers; differs, however, in that all blades work simultaneously in fluid medium (air or water).
