For strain measurements, Zeiss strain gage in improved form was used; describes other instruments employed for deflection and ship-torsion tests and acceleration; practically all tests made were qualitative rather than quantitative; it was shown that stresses occasioned during loading are generally definitely greater than any imposed in heaviest seaway, which draws attention to use of water ballast in correcting heavy loading stresses. See brief translated abstract in Mar. Engr. and Motorship Bldr., vol. 49, no. 591, Nov. 1926, pp. 436-437.
