For strain measurements, Zeiss strain gage in improved form was used; describes other instruments employed for deflection and ship-torsion tests and acceleration; practically all tests made were qualitative rather than quantitative; it was shown that stresses occasioned during loading are generally definitely greater than any imposed in heaviest seaway, which draws attention to use of water ballast in correcting heavy loading stresses.
