Problem of marine identification is concerned with possibility of knowing name or call letters of ship occupying exact position on radar screen with reference to vessel requiring navigational information, for purpose of avoiding possible collision danger; operational requirements that can be met in present state of radar technique and corresponding system which can give to navigator using radar supplementary information directed to improve safety, are considered.
