Early success with Echo I was followed by program to develop further passive satellite technology, with Echo II focus of interest; work to date and important problems under attack, limited to passive satellites that are single, discrete structures, are reviewed; besides extending Echo II technology, studies explore possibilities of spherical segments with passive attitude stabilization and isotropic spheres of wire mesh for communications satellite application.
