Hull installations consisting of duct tubes, propellers and pumps of different type and drawing in water through aperture in hull and discharging it through pressure piping, are usually called jet units; survey reports investigations and applications in Soviet Union; various types of jet propellers with axial propeller pump have been used for river ships; table shows summary data for 12 vessels including tugboats, passenger and cargo ships; it is suggested that best way of creating high speed propulsion device for hydrofoils and shallow draft ships is by multistage jet propulsion devices.
