Completion of stage 4 of yard development at Charles Connell and Co, Scotstoun, is culmination of reconstruction started in 1942; production line techniques have been introduced to increase fabricated steel output and minimize handling costs; potential throughout of work from steelworking processes has been improved to 18,000 tons/yr of dry cargo tonnage or 22,000 tons of tanker tonnage; yard estimates that 65,000-ton tanker could be built in 15 mo, typical 30,000-ton bulk carrier in about 36 wk.
