Twin screw, combined weather and oceanographic ship will be of 5350 tons load displacement and will have top speed of 18 knots; length oa 404 ft 3 in., breadth molded 50 ft, draft loaded 17 ft; 2 watertube boilers will supply 2 turbo propulsion alternators each of 2500 kw, supplying a-c to 2 propulsion motors, each developing not less than 3750 shp; radar will have range of 100,000 ft, and helicopter will be carried; plan.
