Presently used criteria for showing stability of ship with regard to capsizing are grouped by statistical, quasi-statistical and dynamic methods, and each is considered; new criterion for qualitative probability is developed, and is then used with mathematical probabilities to also find quantitative evidence of safety of ship against capsizing; sample calculation of limit curves is given by W.Abicht.
