Review of configurations proposed indicates that 2 of major areas of emphasis are assembly methods and rotational characteristics; earth assembly and orbital assembly configurations, and configurations assembled on earth and erected in orbit are examined; rotational characteristics are identified as nonrotating station, rotating configuration and partial rotating configuration; requirements of launch vehicles; design of large erectable space stations launched on single launch vehicle.
