Results of study examining all emergency conditions and formulation of escape and rescue techniques; investigation is based on hypothetical vehicle capable of circular orbits from 200 to 19,350 nautical mi altitude and mission duration of 28 days; concepts considered are nose capsule re-entry escape vehicle for entire crew; spacecraft escape plus individual re-entry escape units; spacecraft escape plus ejection seats and space rescue by rendezvous; nose capsule re-entry escape vehicle concept is considered to be best overall system.
