Factors that contribute to performance of moldboard plow and its effect on tractor, such as mobility maneuverability, stability, plowing depth, line of pull, dynamic weight distribution and traction; of types of plows available, integral plows are least expensive; drawn plows provide better tractive performance and plow penetration than lighter integral plow in extremely heavy gumbo soils; semi-integral plows provide best tractive performance in most soil conditions.
