Investigation of dynamic behavior of peripheral jet over land was conducted at Aeronautical Engineering Dept of Princeton University; ground effect machine (GEM) configurations and various means of aerodynamic stabilization; analytical approach followed in paper to determine stability derivatives in hover was that of momentum balance; it is shown that control system that employs attitude and rate feedback can improve GEM stability at altitudes otherwise dangerous, and at speeds where aerodynamic control surfaces are not effective.
