Features of research instrument operated by Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory, Inc, Buffalo, NY, capable of velocities to 15 times speed of sound (Mach 15), for 15 sec; tunnel is adaptable to high speed aerodynamic research, and to studies of processes of molecular dissociation and recombination and interaction of electromagnetic radiation with ionized flow; it can test models of aircraft, missiles, and space vehicles under extremely high temperature of about 7000 R and pressure of 128 atm with uncontaminated air flows of 4.3 lb/sec.
