Maintenance information gathered from operators of trucks used for earthmoving, coal and ore hauling showed that power train components on off highway trucks equipped with torque converters last far longer than those on trucks equipped with mechanical drives; how stress variation and shock load stresses affect life expectancy of these two types of transmissions.
