Tank is rectangular in cross section, 108 ft long, 8 ft 7 in. wide with normal water depth of 4 ft; length of ship models which can be used for resistance tests is limited to between 4 and 6 ft. depending on fineness of lines; results of investigation into orders of magnitude, which constitutes initial phase of research project on use of hydrofoils to reduce wave making resistance of ships.
