Design of vehicle crash barrier of wire-rope type, developed at Road Research Laboratory Great Britain for use on central reservations which have width of at least 15 ft. horizontal radii of curvature of at least 2800 ft, and whose surfaces have been hardened to carry traffic; two 3/4 in. diam wire ropes rest one on other in vertical slots cut into tops of 3×1-1/2 in. I-section steel posts, each rope being separately anchored at intervals of about 2000 ft along barrier, so that connection between rope and anchorage is released by colliding vehicle.
