This study evaluates theoretical and practical aspects of using automobile as testing device for measuring pavement slipperiness; every parameter and significant event of skidding automobile was measured and recorded; 25 skid-resistance values were compared and correlated; as result, measurement of time in velocity increment between 30 and 20 mph was selected as interim standard test; number of experiments were also conducted to aid in interpretation of test results and to establish control tolerances for standard test.
