Parameters to be considered in development of tire are materials, construction, and mold design; any change in one or more of these parameters has to be considered in light of its effect on tire performance factors, which are listed; history of materials development; materials used in bias angle, radial ply, and bias belted tires include bead wire, fabric, and rubber all of which are reviewed; materials and construction of radial tires, and of bias belted tires; latter offers greatest immediate potential because it can be manufactured at lower cost on existing plant equipment.
