Tire durability depends primarily on rate of interior oxidative deterioration; only way to effectively inhibit this process is by lowering oxygen concentration of inflating gas; reasonable extrapolation of existing passenger and truck tire performance data indicates oxygen-free inflating gases should improve passenger tire mileage by 25%, and truck tire mileage by 40 to 50%, while simultaneously providing much stronger and safer tires; cost of effecting this improvement in tire life and safety is negligible when contrasted to alternative methods of tire construction to effect same improvement.
