Lack of uniformity among State motor-vehicle laws presents one of greatest difficulties that confront automotive industry and has obstructing influence on improvement in design of vehicle and its equipment; passenger cars have been least affected, but long-stroke engine is direct development, resulting from almost universal imposition of license fees or taxes on hp. calculated on cylinder-bore; problem of satisfactory head-lighting has been complicated by great diversity of state requirements and restrictions; large heavy vehicles, as motor coaches and motor trucks are effected most seriously by legislation and regulation.
