Report on loss of collier Galleon is reviewed by author; he emphasizes fact that Galleon, having double bottom, suffered appreciable loss in stability due to relatively higher center of gravity of cargo; points out necessity of restricting line so that statutory midship freeboard is preserved at all positions along length; reviews two other cases all showing that small ships require relatively larger righting levers than large ships. See brief translated abstract in Mar. Eng. and Motorship Bldr., vol. 50, no. 595, Mar. 1927, pp. 116-117.
