Applies principles developed in recent years in rapid advance of hydrodynamic theory to practical calculations in marine propulsion, and in particular, to design and analysis of commercial propellers on merchant ships; considers general problem of flow, and reduces somewhat involved case of compound flow to simple planar flow involving circulation; results are applied to marine propellers.
