Specially constructed to withstand heavy stresses to which she will be subjected in carrying out work to be undertaken, namely, heavy towage service and salvage operations; hull is divided into 6 main compartments by 5 watertight bulkheads; bottom structure is on open-floor principle throughout; propelled by 2 sets of 3-cylinder, triple-expansion engines, taking steam from 4 Prudhon-Capus combined fire-tube and water-tube boilers.
