Importance of evaluating antiknock performance of fuels under conditions approximating those experienced on road is emphasized; road knock rating test procedures and factors which may influence road ratings of given fuels; borderline procedure for road antiknock rating which offers means for studying relationship between ignition timing, engine speed and knocking tendency.
