Report of Fire Protection and Insurance section of Association of American Railroads recommends process consisting of application of coat of special bridge primer, application of blend of premium asphalt combined with asbestos fiber and tung and other vegetable oils, and finally, application of clean aggregate such as pea size washed gravel; method has to date been applied on half million lineal feet of bridge decks on 19 railroads; no fires have occurred.
