Excerpts from 39th annual report of Bureau of Locomotive Inspection, which states that number of accidents resulting from failures of parts of all types of locomotives during fiscal year ended June 30 1950, as compared with fiscal 1949 were reduced from 277 to 220 and number of persons injured from 250 to 234; 4123 fewer steam locomotives and 3027 more Diesels reported in service in 1950.
