Results of large scale tests are quoted in support of conclusion that reduction in oil viscosity leads to economy in fuel consumption, without detriment to engine performance or life; author's experience with fleet of compression ignition motor vehicles lubricated with engine oil of SAE 30 viscosity and subsequently lubricated with SAE 20W.
