Action of engine nacelle upon wing in supersonic flow is examined; engine installation is shown to influence wave drag due to thickness and drag due to lift; available theoretical procedures make it possible to estimate forces on wing due to combined action of several nacelles; results obtained are compared with supersonic wind-tunnel-test data; effects of relative location of nacelles and of nacelle shape and size on lift, drag, and pitch characteristics of wind-tunnel models are presented; experimental results show that camber and twist of wing should be designed by taking into account effects of flowfield from nacelles.
