Two-dimensional, adiabatic laminar separated regions in supersonic flow that may be caused by forward-facing steps or control jets exhausting from side of flight vehicle are considered; order-of-magnitude analysis indicates that blowing or suction at wall in separated region may be highly effective method for altering force and moment characteristics of separated pressure field acting upon wall; it is shown that two-moment, single-parameter viscous interaction method of L.Lees and B.L.Reeves yields satisfactory correlation of step height with theoretical height of recirculation region of separated flow; sample calculation for two cases.
