Suggestions for forestalling or mitigating dangers of near tragedies such as plane crash at La Guardia Airport, New York on Sept 14 1960; none of passengers was seriously injured; safety measures include development of fuels for aircraft which will burn only in engine, use of self-sealing tanks, improved pilot displays, navigation equipment, and landing aids, improved seat design, and development of burnproof, smokeless, nontoxic materials.
