Aircraft is designed primarily for task of fighting forest and other ground fires from air by technique known as water bombing including search and rescue and passenger and freight transport; it is capable of withstanding severe aerodynamic and hydrodynamic loads imposed by fire-fighting operations; with built-in ability to scoop up water, aircraft can drop large volume between refuelings; aircraft is powered by two 2200-bhp Pratt and Whitney R-2800 83AM2 air-cooled radial piston engines; design features, constructional details and major systems; schematics and illustrations.
