Technical options available for reducing noise problems are oriented toward quieter engines and nacelles, with some flexibility remaining in basic aircraft design to achieve higher thrust to weight ratio, less aerodyanamic noise, and higher lift to drag ratios during approach and climb-out operations; ground-based systems to accelerate and decelerate aircraft on runway also offer promise; operational options relating to take-off and approach procedures, and approach and departure routes are indicated; airport options and solutions of noise problems.
