It is recognized that marine transport does not represent major use of rubber, principally because ships do not run on tires; some marine uses have their counter-parts on land, while others, particularly those concerned with saving lives, are unique to sea; applications reviewed include propulsion components (couplings, bearings, etc), hull fittings and finishes, small craft and their accessories, lifesaving and salvage devices, and fenders.
