Large variations in wake at propellers of large, single-screw tankers together with increasing propeller weights, have increased stress concentrations in tailshaft, due to high torsional and bending moments; investigations at Lips Propeller Works on keyless bore propellers of full size, as one solution, are reported; respective issue of journal cover -- results of first test propeller; determination and comparisons with Lloyd's Recommendations of push up load, pull off load, pull up length, various friction coefficients according to dry fit and wet fit methods; "y-stroom" propeller and some test apparatus; "BOW" propeller (no counter bore).
