Study of influence of torsional rigidity of closed box girders extending athwartships under deck, on general torsional rigidity of ship as whole; model was tested without any deck structure across opening, with deck structure arranged as Ibeams and with structure arranged as box girders having same bending stiffness, horizontally, as I-beams; latter gave increase in torsional rigidity to ship of 12 1/2%.
