Lunar environment test bed was developed which permits investigations of partial or combined effects of lunar gravity, reduced pressure of vacuum, lunar surface characteristics, shelter confinement and space suit encumbrances; Lunar Gravity Simulator (LUNARG) is used to study lunar gravity on performance of maintenance tasks; compared to baseline skirt-sleeves data, studies revealed performance time increase of 132 to 193% attributable to lunar gravity and space suit encumbrances; reduced pressure of vacuum was shown to be important factor to consider in astronaut capabilities.
