Two digital computer simulation models of traffic operation and control have been developed by Planning Research Corp -- microscopic single, signalized intersection model, and macroscopic signalized intersection network model; general features of simulation models are presented together with summary data pertaining to validity of models, and research results from studies of traffic signal system operation made with models.
