Submarine will carry two persons to depth of 6500 ft; spherical pressure hull of HY 100 steel, 82 in. OD by 0.935 in. thick, is machined inside and out; free flooding fiber glass fairing, 17 ft long by 8 2/3 ft beam, mounts on pressure hull and contains ballast systems, propulsion system, manipulator, TV cameras, transducers, and miscellaneous instruments; cylindrical load skirt provides tie points for fairing, etc; lead acid batteries provide 40 kwh of main power; propulsion drive system utilizes modulating solid-state inverters.
