MV Clerk Maxwell was built by Hawthorne Leslie (Shipbuilders) Ltd for Nile Steamship Co, for charter to Ocean Gas Transport Ltd; natural boiloff from nitrogen system, comprising nitrogen liquefier for continuous production of nitrogen on board and provided with liquid nitrogen storage and vaporizer, supplies inert gas for containment spaces surrounding cargo tanks and rapid purging of tanks; means for gas freeing, reliquefaction, remote control of cargo handling, etc, are also discussed; hull length oa 461 ft 6 in., beam 63 ft, depth 39 ft, summer draft 26 ft 3 3/4 in.
