Reduction methods and analysis of data for basic traffic parameters are discussed; some of parameters are used to illustrate merging operation at each study site; qualitative effect of various geometric elements on operation, as reflected by traffic parameters of volume, density, speed and acceleration noise; paper demonstrates nature of data available and quantity of data involved.
