Tests were made to determine whether importance of various reasons differed with purpose of trip; attitudes were examined to determine whether they were influenced by socioeconomic characteristics of people or by performance characteristics of routes; statistical explanation of attitudes, in terms of driver and route characteristics, was approached by canonical correlation, multiple regression, and grouping techniques; results of these analyses are presented, and conclusions are drawn regarding dependence of attitudes toward route choice upon persons and route characteristics.
