Construction of sunken tube tunnel representing four-barrel structure that was designed to carry six lanes of highway traffic, two railroad tracks and motorcycle lane under Schelde River, in Antwerp, Belgium, and of two-barrel Limfjord tunnel at Aalborg, Denmark is described; basic construction method for each of two tunnels was similar; individual sections are prefabricated in drydocks, then floated into position over trench, and finally lowered to correct depth, connected and backfilled; prestressing, waterproofing, tunnel foundations and sinking.
