New mines in Winifrede and Freeport seams use transfer shaft and tramway to reload coal into mine cars for haulage 3 mi through old Williamson-Thacker seam mine to headhouse; from there it is lowered by rope and button conveyor to Pond Creek seam level and then taken by belt to point from which it goes by another belt to railroad cars or by second tramway crossing Kentucky-West Virginia line to Williamson (W Va) yard.
