In order to provide better roads, in vicinity of Fort Leonard Wood, 12 miles of U S 66 is being improved from winding route with single traffic lane each way to four-lane divided highway; maximum grades are restricted to 5.7%, horizontal curves are limited to 2° and sight distances to 1000 ft horizontally and 800 ft vertically.
