Author stresses need for practical outlook on design of roads to be built in post war period; roads need adequate widths, directness, avoidance of densely populated districts, freedom from intersections, avoidance of low lying areas where fog and mist may be encountered, gradients as gentle as possible, properly designed vertical and horizontal curves; roadside appearance; bridge design; road materials.
