Additional losses occur at ends of blades, which exercise considerable influence on efficiency; these losses are only partly dependent on clearance as shown by tests, including investigation with aid of formula for induced drag of wing, tests on grid models and on air turbine; new formula suggested for efficiency of turbine blading which takes into account theory of similarity.
