Functional relations are developed for ablation, insulation, and structural weights for ballistic-type entry vehicles as functions of vehicle and atmospheric properties; by application of these relations to range of possible model atmospheres for Mars, effects of these uncertainties on vehicle design weights and sizes are determined.
