Increase in smog and other air pollution problems traceable to internal combustion engine exhausts have created public interest in search for new power sources for automobiles; fuel cell has emerged as practical electric power source with much promise for vehicular application; state-of-art of fuel cells as related to electric automobiles is reviewed and fuels and economics are considered.
