Adjustable axle DR IV trucks used for standard and Soviet gages on East German Railways; gage changing device with outside ramps to carry weight of vehicles while wheels are moved along splines is described; features of locking mechanism; DR IV is designed for gage difference of 89 mm, but principle can be used for difference of 250 mm, for 21 tons axleload and for 120 km/hr running; axle developed is said to run for 6 mo without lubrication.
